I am running a positive campaign as I always have, unlike the negative one filled with untruths, in both print and robocalls, which was run against me six years ago. I am running for Mayor, not against anyone, in spite of what you may have heard. I am running now to be our Mayor because I believe I have the skills, the temperament, and the ability to get along with people as well as the aforementioned qualifications-al of which our city desperately needs, especially now after all the corruption and division that has taken place since my leaving office. The Human Rights Campaign awarded Carol the prestigious National. Carol received a rating of +8.5 for supporting Gay and Lesbian civil rights issues (in a range of -10 to +10) while Anthony Williams received a rating of +3.5. I do hope that you will remember the depth and breadth of my experience, record, and results as well as the integrity and respect that I brought to the office. GLAA (Gay and Lesbian Activist Alliance) gives Carol a high rating. Now, as of three and a half weeks ago, I am running for Mayor again and this time as an independent. I hope you would agree that I served our city and the Party well. In addition, I ran as the Republican candidate for Mayor in 1986, 1994, 1998, and 2002, earning as much as 42% of the vote and never less than 30% in a town then where Democrats outnumbered Republicans 11 to 1. Before recently moving to the Boston area, she taught illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.įor a complete client list and to view additional illustrations, visit Carol’s website: you may recall, I was the standard bearer for our Party for many decades, first as a non-partisan member of the Board of Education representing Ward 3 from 1974 to 1982, and then as an At-Large Republican member of the Council from 1985 to 1989 and again from 1997 to 2009. She enjoys speaking at elementary schools, libraries, conferences and colleges about her focus on nature and her artistic process. ![]() Carol’s work is included in the Society of Illustrators permanent collection from the exhibition, Women Illustrators Past and Present. Her artwork has been selected for exhibition at The Society of Illustrators and many times by The Illustrator’s Club of Washington DC. Her books have been chosen as Outstanding Science Trade Books by the National Science Teacher’s Association and Children’s Book Council and been honored with the Children’s Choice Book Award and the Original Art exhibition at the Society of Illustrators in New York. Her illustrations have appeared in 60 picture books and countless magazines, newspapers and advertisements. She graduated with a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and in 2014 received her MFA from the University of Hartford, Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Texas in 1965 with a degree in elementary and special education. As a child growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, Carol had a constant supply of drawing materials. Born January 20, 1944, in Greenville, Mississippi, Carol spent her childhood in Midland, Texas, where she attended public schools, worked in the family store and helped care for her brother Johnny, an individual with mental retardation.
